Queen Bohemian Rhapsody.

It was on their fifth album and lead track, that the classic Queen Bohemian Rhapsody appeared. This song was like no other at the time and the single alone spent a full nine weeks in the UK singles chart. The album was of course ‘A Night At The Opera’. The song also had a striking video,which must have helped things along.
“Bohemian Rhapsody” was written by Freddie Mercury alone. Unusually, it was written on a telephone book in blocks. Each day he would add a new part to the composure. All the other instrumental parts bass, guitar and drum parts were thought up by Freddie as he went along. The rest of the band refereed to it as Freddie’s thing. Having now idea how the song would turn out, the other members of the band recorded their various parts as directed by Freddie. What started out as a small interlude,”Galileos”, became the famous operatic feature of the the entire song. This intertwined with the hard rock and ballad parts of the song during the final mix.
A revival!
During the the making of “Wayne’s World 2″ in 1992, I think it was, this track was used while the crew were going down town in the ‘Murph Mobile’. Parts of the original video were included in the film while the boys sang along, doing their stuff. It was a bit out of the feel of the film but what a way to wake the fans up!
The title only came to light towards the end of the recording of the song. “Queen Bohemian Rhapsody” is now regarded as one the all time great of popular music. Of course the band had other outstanding tracks and songs in the history of thier long and colorful carrea. We will rock you, Love of My life and many other too.

Queen Songs.
In this dim and distant past,there was a popular music rock band called Queen. This short article is dedicated to all who played those fantastic Queen Songs. Freddie Mercury, Brain May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon, which if I remember correctly was the bands line up in 1971.
While doing a little research on the internet, I discovered they had a grand total of 39 songs on the original vinyl records. Of course the one that anyone worth their salt knows is Queen Bohemian Rhapsody. Others which stand out are, We Will Rock You, Killer Queen and Dont Stop Me Now.
With the band starting out at the end of the 1960′s, they seemed to find their legs when Freddie Mercury started to front the band and sang lead. The album which seem to bring Queen recognition,was the album ‘Sheer Heart Attack’,released in 1974 and in 1975 the album ‘A Night at The Opera’.
A little history on the band. 1968/9 -1973. Brian May,Tim Staffell joined up with drummer Roger Taylor to form a band called ‘Smile’ while at London’s Imperial Collage and singed to Mercury Records that year. Tim Staffell was a student at Ealing Art Collage with Farrokh Bulsara. Tim introduced Farrohk to the band and he became a great fan. Tim left to join another band called Humpy Bong,with Farrohk – later changing his name to Freddie Mercury – joined the band as the vocalist. They changed the bands name to “Queen”. The band did not really settle, until John Deacon joined as bass player in February 1971. There was then a period of time while the band gelled together and not until 1974 that the band hit mainstream success. The Queen 2 album witch reach number 5 in the album charts and had the lead single ‘Seven Sea’s of Rye’ with reached number 10 in the UK singles chart.
Big Time.
The band third album ‘Sheer Heart Attack’ reach number 2 in the UK and sold well in Europe,going gold in US. Then the forth album ‘A Night at The Opera’ really put the band on the map. Queen songs from the album were of course the now legendary Bohemian Rhapsody and the amazing video which at the time was ground breaking visual effects. The rest as they say, is history.

Sadly Freddie Mercury passed away in 1991 and another band member John Deacon retired in 1997.

Queen Bohemian Rhapsody – the fifth album – A Night The Opera.

This was a very important album for Queen. Up until that time,1975,it was one of if not the most expensive albums ever made. Produced by Roy Thomas Baker and the band Queen and released by EMI in the UK. It contained one of the most memorable tacks in popular rock music ever written – “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The name of the album itself is quite interesting. It comes from a 1935 film of that name by the Marx Brothers. The band was apparently watching it one night and obviously gave them inspiration for the album of the same name. As well as the lead track staying in the UK singles chart for nine weeks, a video which accompanied the song also was a work of art.

Apparently, when Roger first played the demo, the other thought it a bit of a joke but it turned out OK.

You’re My Best Friend – written by John Deacon – single was 7th in chart on Tue 18 May 1976 -song time – 2.50 minutes and 199 words.

’39 – written by Brian May – song time – 3.30 minutes and 244 words.

40 Sweet Lady – written by Brian May – song time – 4.02 minutes and 155 words.

41 Seaside Rendezvous – written by Freddie Mercury – song time – 2.14 minutes and 194 words.

42 The Prophet’s Song – written by Brian May – song time – 8.20 minutes and 559 words.

43 Love Of My Life – written by Freddie Mercury – song time – 3.34 minutes and 152 words.
Live version was 63 in the chart on Fri 29 Jun 1979.
